    Rasi's Desire

“My Name is Rasi. I am in grade 9. I have a younger sister and my mum takes care of us. My father died when I was a baby. My mother worked hard and managed to send me and my sister to school but after few years she could not afford to pay the increasing amounts for our education anymore. Through people in the village my mother heard about Asha Kiran and decided to send me there. I enjoy my stay here at the Asha Kiran children home and feel blessed in every way. I have many friends and I love to play and sing for Jesus. I will soon be finishing grade 10 and once again have the feeling of uncertainty in my life. It’s my dream to go to school, continue my education and become a doctor. I know this is a big dream and I trust that God will help me.”

    CBOH Sponsor Student

Syamala is a 19 year old girl from the village of Jayathi, near Gotlam. Syamala lost her father when she was very young and her mother not only raised her and her two sisters but also was the caregiver for Syamala’s grandfather. Syamala’s mother worked hard and earned minimal wages per day through intense manual labour. Syamala had no hope that she could continue her studies because of financial reasons. At that point, her village pastor brought her to Bridge of Hope, Gotlam. Syamala was very happy to join the team at Shalom Medical Centre (SMC), Bridge of Hope. She volunteered at SMC for 10 months and soon expressed her deep desire to study nursing. Syamala is currently being supported by Bridge of Hope Canada, through their partner, Bridge of Hope, Gotlam, India, to continue her studies. She completed her 2 year training as an auxiliary nurse and is presently working at Shalom Medical Centre. She hopes to continue her education and strives to achieve a graduate degree in nursing in the future.
